Two brave teens were able to find help after going door to door in desperation.
The 15-year-olds are twins who live in Houston. At 5:30 a.m., they were shown begging for help on the doorbell camera of a good Samaritan. They were barely clothed, dirty, and appeared to be starving.
In the footage, one of the twins can be heard asking, “Can you please help us? We’re starving.” Luckily, the woman whose front porch they were on let them inside. She quickly called authorites for help and gave the children some food.
“I was honestly terrified because I didn’t know what to expect on the other end of the phone,” the nurse and single mother who took them in told Chris Cuomo on NewsNation. "As soon as I heard their little voices, I knew something was going on and it wasn’t good."
The woman also took photos of the marks on their wrists and arms. The teens told her the bruises were from being handcuffed and zip tied.
Harris County Police Department spokesperson Jeff McShan said the kind woman absolutely saved these two children.
“It is unbelievable," McShan said. "They’re getting tests run. It appears that they had broken bones from previous encounters, and that they had healed. The doctors are doing a lot of tests. They were forced to drink urine and drink Clorox and they had oven cleaner sprayed into their mouths."
The teens told the good Samaritan that they had not eaten in a week.
Authorities learned that there were other children in the home the teens had come from. They issued an Amber Alert for the teen's other siblings. They were later located in Louisiana and are in CPS custody.
The mother of the teens, Zaikiya Duncan, and her boyfriend, Jova Terrell, have been detained in Baton Rouge and are awaiting extradition back to Texas.
