Fruit is awesome. It's delicious, easy to eat (and carry along with you), and healthy. What is there not to love about fruit? It has also been the subject of art for centuries. People have been creating still-life paintings of fruit for generations and that doesn't seem to be slowing down now. But what if the fruit itself was a part of the art? What if the fruit was the art itself?
Artists Stephan Brusche set out to answer that very questions when he began doing what he calls "fruitdoodles." In them, Brusche carves into the actual fruit itself to create a beautiful piece of art. Most of his work to date (which has made helped him amass nearly 18,000 Instagram followers) has featured bananas, so his fruitdoodles have also become known as banana art.
From animals like cats, dogs, giraffes, and elephants to celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Brusche tackles everything from normal, everyday life to pop culture with his unique banana art. It's really cool and far from the "usual" art you see most of the time.
Check out the gallery below of some of Stephan's most striking banana art. What do you think of it?
