When Steve The Crocodile Hunter Irwin died at just 44 years old, he left millions of fans in utter shock. The news that he had died from a stingray of all things left many confused as to how that was even possible. We all collectively grieved for his wonderful wife Terri and the two darling children he left behind.
One thing that a lot of people loved the most about Steve was his never-ending fascination and excitement for the animals that he encountered, and the many ways he could save them. From cute fluffy animals, to spiders and angry crocodiles — he loved them all!
While he was certainly energetic, he also had a wonderful sense of humor and a down-to-Earth, self-deprecating approach to life that only someone who loved animals could really have.
His willingness to jump on the back of a crocodile in order to save its life and his ability to dodge any snakebite is what made him famous and what made so many animal-loving Americans fall in love with him and his hilarious phrases. ("Oh Crikey!")
Now that his wonderful daughter Bindi is growing up on Dancing with the Stars, we can only hope that she'll continue his conservation efforts all around the world. Though Steve may be gone, the video below shows some of his more hilarious moments amongst the animals he cared for so deeply. Take a look if you loved The Crocodile Hunter and Irwin's wonderful sense of humor!
