There is no denying the incredible talent found in each individual in Fleetwood Mac. The legendary band sold out arenas throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and again today with their most recent reunion tour. Listen to any classic rock radio station for more than 10 minutes and you'll be sure to hear one of their amazing chart-topping hits.
After the release of the band's most ambitious and difficult-to-record album in 1979, Tusk, the group trudged on with a grueling 18-month tour around the world. Infamously fueled by tense romantic entanglements within the group, the members decided to take a much-needed breather from each other once it was over.
During that hiatus, singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks found success on her own with her debut solo album, Bella Donna. She was so successful, in fact, that Rolling Stone magazine asked to put her beautiful face on their cover for a story about her witchy rock and roll lifestyle. While preparing for the photo shoot with Annie Leibowitz in 1981, Nicks showed off much more than just her iconic ethereal fashion.
Taking a break from her makeup routine, Nicks and her back up vocalist sing along to an early demo of "Wild Heart," the title song of her second album. This gorgeous tune has always been one of my favorites from Nicks. Her dreamy and distinct vocals touch every lyrics with her enchanting energy. However, this rare version might actually top what I sometimes play on repeat from the album. The raw, totally unrehearsed footage feels so much more intimate than the final result. I get chills every time I watch!
