Growing up in what's known as "Tornado Alley," suddenly hearing sirens blare down our streets was a pretty frequent occurrence. I've never witnessed a cyclone myself, but I always loved going outside to see the sky changing hues.
While most folks would rush to the nearest basement or shelter, my family simply enjoyed the show! When I explain that to some of my friends now, though, I usually get a reaction like the one Steve Harvey gave his guest admitting the very same affection for the potentially dangerous weather. Of course, we also knew all the signs to look for that meant we should head back inside, and we were definitely never quite as daring as the woman in the video below.
Storm chaser Elisabeth Brentano goes out of her way to observe the incredible beauty of tornadoes. She was recently traveling with fellow thrill-seeker Mike Mezeul when they spotted a formation billowing in the distance. The duo had been driving around for a week in the area before finally striking gold, and they knew they'd have to move fast to get the photo while remaining a safe enough space away.
If you ask me, the stunning result was totally worth it (even though it's certainly not advised to try this at home!) Wearing a beautiful white dress and surrounded by a wheat field, Brentano looks more like a fantasy character than a real life human. It honestly took my breath away when I stumbled upon the image! Thank goodness they were able to quickly capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment.
