When you're a parent, you mostly worry about the safety and well-being of your children. It's why so many parents are called "overprotective": They want to make sure that they're doing everything they can to protect their kids, young or old, from any harm. If it means always keeping an eye on them, then so be it!
But there are times when you simply can't monitor everything your child does. One mom discovered that, when she thought her son was safe for the night, quite the opposite was true.
Maira Harder and her husband went to bed, thinking that their 10-year-old son Dylan was fast asleep in his bed.
Dylan had fallen asleep on the couch instead, but it's where he ended up next that truly spooked the parents: they say they found him outside, shoeless and in the bitter cold, because he was sleepwalking.
A tearful Dylan recounts how he was convinced that no one was alive in his nightmare and that his house was crumbling down. When he went to go seek help by knocking on neighbors' doors, no one answered.
He ended up near a busy highway. His mother doesn't even want to think about what could have happened if he hadn't been picked up by a friendly stranger.
The man brought Dylan back to his house and left before his baffled parents could thank him. The child returned safe and without injuries.
