Strangers Help Struggling Single Mom After Holiday Theft

A California mom didn't want to be faced with the choice of buying her daughter Christmas presents this year, and buying a new car charger — but that was the reality for this struggling, single mom.

Sammantha Mello says that she has a lot of expenses that were going to force her to make that choice when her Fiat's car charger was stolen from in front of her parents' house on Thanksgiving. The charger costs close to $400.

But thanks to a couple of strangers, she was able to pay for both!

Sammantha posted her story on Facebook, explaining her situation. She also set up a GoFundMe account in hopes that she could raise enough money in time for the holidays, so that she can buy both the charger and her daughter, Emily's presents.

As it turned out, the amount of money donated surpassed the amount she needed in just 20 minutes.

Many who had seen the Facebook post sympathized with the mom's struggles — including Folsom resident Dawn Grove who donated to Sammantha's cause. She happens to be a single mother herself, and says thats she wants to "keep that love tornado going."

Now, Sammantha is very grateful for her community's generosity!
