It's that time of year! It may be the holiday season, but students have been waiting on a much bigger delivery than one from Santa and his sleigh. College acceptance letters are on their way out to students' homes, and kids are anxiously waiting to hear if they're on their top pick's "nice list."
And that's exactly what Brendon Gauthier, a senior at TM Landry College Prep in Louisiana, is doing. He is one of 14 seniors at the school, and was waiting to see if he'll be joining the student body at Cornell University.
In the video below, the weight of silence lies crushingly over the room as his classmates and Michael Landry, the founder of the school, surround Brendon Gauthier's desk, awaiting the final verdict.
Brendon leans in slightly toward his laptop as he gently scrolls down to reveal the results.
In a flash, the breathless crowd bursts into shouts and applause! Landry, overcome with excitement, lifts Brendon off the ground and dances across the room.
Brendon is the second student from the school to be accepted to an Ivy League college, but every student that attends the college prep school goes off to a four-year university.
Until this past year, Landry and his wife were the only instructors at the school, which has nearly 100 students ranging from first grade to high school seniors.
It's incredible how celebrating the success of someone else can feel like your own victory.
