After graduation, Andrew Zeller never forgot his favorite teacher. He credited Mrs. Carrie Smeltzer with being an inspiration to students and teaching them to follow their dreams, so he decided to repay her in a big way.
When he learned that she was diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time, the former student decided to create a fundraiser for her to help offset the costs of her mounting medical bills. He secretly started making "Shirts for Smeltzer." After the first batch of t-shirt sold out, Zeller decided to surprise Mrs. Smeltzer with a check for $1,500, raised through T-shirt sales.
In the video, Smeltzer was given the money during the tear-jerking surprise visit, after she was set up by her co-workers to "go to a meeting" after school. Her reaction is so awesome. What a heartfelt moment.
