10 Amazing Hairstyle Hacks To Keep You Looking Fresh All Summer Long

As the weather warms up, it's time to get excited for all things summer. Enjoying a frozen treat while sitting by the pool slathered in sunscreen sounds like paradise for plenty of women, but for those of us with hair that extends past the napes of our necks, hot weather also means that our locks are about to start sticking to our skin and acting as an extra layer of insulation. And when all you want to do is wear as little clothing as possible and enjoy the sun without any distractions, this can be a big problem.

We've shown you lots of beautiful hairstyles before, but many fancy styles prioritize fashion over function. But when you start seeing crazy temperatures come up on the thermometer, you need a 'do that's going to make you look great and keep cool.

If you aren't willing to cut off all your hair like this woman did after not cutting it at all for twenty-three years, don't fret — there are plenty of easy up-dos that will make you look summertime chic in no time. I'm one of those girls that can't even be bothered to blow-dry my hair on most days, but these looks are so easy, I think even I could pull them off!

Summer is one of the best times of the year, and it shouldn't be ruined by having hair that makes you feel like you're wearing a winter coat. Whether you have medium-length hair, long hair, or even natural hair, there's a style for you that can help you beat the heat.

Don't forget to SHARE these styles with everyone you know! Everyone should be able to enjoy the heat without the burden of sticky, sweaty hair.

1. This classy style that also keeps your bangs from sticking to your forehead

This one does require a wrap-around headband, but it looks so cute that I'd call it a worthy investment. Start by French braiding your bangs around the front part of the headband. Tuck two strands of hair from each side of your head into the headband, then roll up the rest of your hair and tuck it nice and tight into the back of the band.

2. This cute look that just require you to tie a few knots

If you're as bad at braiding as I am, this can give you that pretty twisted look without all the hard work. Start at the top of your head and take a strand of hair from either side. Tie them into a simple knot, and then work your way down the back of your head and add a bit of hair to each strand for the second knot. Think of it like a French knot instead of a French braid. Repeat for the third and fourth knots, and then tuck the remaining hair underneath the knots with a bobby pin.

3. This bun that's perfect for looking pretty and lazy at the same time

Lazy ladies rejoice: Not only is this bun super simple and designed to look like you're too busy working on your tan to care about your hair, but it also works even better if you don't wash your hair for a few days. Once your hair is nice and dirty, pull it together and hold it straight up above your head. Then, twist it until you get to a couple of inches above your scalp. Wrap the twisted hair around itself until it's all in a loose bun on top of your head, then fasten it in place with between four and eight bobby pins. Pull a few strands of hair out if you want to look extra casual, and make sure the bun isn't too tight if you want it to have some volume.

4. This chignon that looks elegant, but is actually effortless

If you want to look like the princess of the pool, this is the style for you. Take the hair from the sides of your head and twist it until you can put it in a ponytail along with the hair from the back of your head. Flip the ponytail into the "v" made by the twists, then flip it again and secure it with bobby pins. Yep, it's really that easy!

5. This twist and side bun combination that makes you look like a tropical princess

Good news for the ladies out there with natural hair: this style looks perfect with more voluminous locks. Start from the front and twist your hair around the back until it reaches the other side. Use a hair tie to secure the rest of your hair in a ponytail right behind your ear. Pin it up into a bun, and done!

6. This style that's perfect for when you want to get a little "knotty"

Another one for the braid-haters out there, this style just requires you to tie a simple knot, then another, then another (and possibly another and another, depending on how long your hair is). Keep them together with a hair tie, then fasten the remaining hair under your knots with a bobby pin.

7. This bun that has a fun surprise in the back

If you're willing to put in a little more effort to create some pretty braids, the final result of this 'do is definitely worth it. Divide your hair into two parts directly down the center of your head, and leave a triangle of hair at the front. Look down, and starting at the bottom of the back of your head, braid your hair upwards. Continue to take strands from the outside of your hair like a French braid. Once you get to the top of your head, leave some hair loose at the end and clip the braid in place. Repeat with the other half of your hair. Once both braids are complete, take the loose ends of hair, form it into a ponytail, and then wrap it around itself to form a loose knot before pinning it in place. Style the triangle of hair at the front of your head any way you'd like!

8. This crown of hair that makes you look like royalty

If your hair is super long, it can be even harder to get it all on top of your head without it looking like you have a mop on your cranium. This pretty look fixes that problem, though. Separate your hair into pigtails that begin at the nape of your neck. braid them all the way down, then cross them over each other. Wrap each braid around the crown of your head, and then fasten the ends underneath each other.

9. This sock bun that makes staying cool the easiest thing ever

You can get one of these things at the dollar store, and when summer comes, you'll realize it was the best hair purchase of the year. Put your hair in a ponytail, draw it up through the "sock," and give it the bun look by securing it with a hair tie. Then, take the ends that are sticking out and wrap them around the base of the bun, finally securing them with a bobby pin or two.

10. This French roll that can be done with a few bobby pins and zero professional stylists

This would look amazing when paired with a cute vintage swim suit. This one might require the help of a friend or a few mirrors to make sure you're tucking everything in in all the right places, but the final look is so gorgeous, I think the extra effort is a small price to pay!
