How To Survive An Elevator Fall

Quite a few people hate being enclosed in small spaces. Whether it be the close quarters of an airplane or the nervous feeling that comes when the elevator doors close, those poor people who are claustrophobic deal with immense anxiety.

This anxiety comes along with the irrational fear of having no possible way to escape in case of an emergency. The fear of being closed-in often results in a panic attack that can leave the sufferer utterly paralyzed with fear.

One of the biggest fears of claustrophobic people comes with being stuck inside an elevator. With no knowledge of what's going on in the outside world and a complete lack of control, these people are often in fear of their elevator plummeting to the ground.

Even though that's only happened once in the history of elevators, and it resulted in no deaths, scientists have discovered the proper way to survive a fall in case your elevator begins to go down.

It turns out that it is best to go against your instincts just in case your elevator begins to fall. If you have enough time you should try to lay flat on the ground, that way the impact will actually be spread out all over your body and decrease any chance of injury!

While this will probably never happen, it's always helpful to learn new and interesting facts! The only time an elevator ever fell was back in 1945 when a B-25 bomber hit the Empire State Building and severed the cables which held the elevator up!
