Madeleine McCann's parents might finally have answers.
After 15 long and painful years, a suspect has formally been named in their daughter's disappearance. Madeleine McCann disappeared while on vacation with her family in Portugal on May 3, 2007. She was 3 years old at the time.
Now Portuguese prosecutors say they have an official suspect.
Authorities did not release the person's name. But the Associated Press reported that he was identified as a suspect after they acted on a request made by German and British police. The suspect is not the first to be identified in the case.
Christian Brueckner was also identified as a suspect in 2020. He is currently in prison in Germany on rape and drug convictions. He has not been charged.
That same year, German authorities announced they presumed the little girl to be dead.
Her family remains hopeful that one day she will be found alive.
