Suzanne Morphew’s Sister Spills Details About Missing Mom’s Troubled Marriage And Husband

Barry Morphew's arrest has left more questions than answers for the family of Suzanne Morphew.

Suzanne's sister Melinda is still holding onto hope after nearly two years of worry and heartbreak. The family didn't believe her husband of 26 years could have had anything to do with her going missing, but they started getting suspicious as the investigation unfolded.

"Barry was very dominant in the relationship and my sister was a very passive, gentle soul," Melinda told Inside Edition.

"He had a great tendency to overpower and intimidate people to get what they wanted."

Suzanne and Melinda communicated before Suzanne's disappearance on Mother's Day 2020, after she left her home to go on a bike ride. Suzanne shared some deep details of her life and relationship with her sister for the first time.

"The Friday before Mother's Day, my sister had sent me a text message that morning. It was very lengthy. It was very powerful. It was very revealing," Melinda said.

"She had been ready to share some things close to her chest. She said she was scared."

Barry has maintained his innocence, claiming he was 150 miles away in Denver. He was there to attend a training session for volunteer firefighters, allegedly at the time of the disappearance. He also offered a $100,000 reward for information on the disappearance that was later matched by a family friend.

Melinda feels for her teenage nieces — the couple's two daughters, Mallory and Macy — who are caught in between. They love their mother and want truth and justice but are fiercely defensive of their father. Melinda just hopes they know how much they meant to their mom.

"Mallory, Macy, you are the heart and soul of your mother," she said. "She would never leave you, she would never forsake you. She loved you with her whole being."

As for Barry, she just wants to hear what really happened. "I want you to tell the truth," she said. "Please do the right thing. Barry, please do the right thing."

Barry was arrested in May 2021 and charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, as well as unlawfully submitting a ballot on Suzanne's behalf in the 2020 presidential election. Barry's trial is currently scheduled for April 28, 2022, and is expected to last as long as five weeks.
