Belly Flops And Swimming Are The Simple Bare Necessities For This Bear

Bruiser the the Syrian Brown Bear forgets about his worries and strife by drowning them in water. You may remember Bruiser from this viral video of him beating the heat by cooling off in a backyard swimming pool over the summer. Bruiser lives with other animals at the Single Vision Wildlife Sanctuary in Melrose, Florida. He’s is the happiest when he’s splashing around in water and even does a mean bear belly flop!

As you can imagine, the above ground pools staff bought from Wal-Mart aren’t built for bears. Megan Heath, Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator for Single Vision told LittleThings.com, “He’s around 200 pounds now and likes to crawl over the sides and they’re breaking. He’s not even done growing and will get up to 600 pounds so we need a stronger pool.”

By this summer, Single Vision wants to have a new indestructible pool ready for him and his friends. They’re raising money in a new Indigogo campaign.  In just the first half hour they raised $15,000 of their $120,000 goal!

“The new pool will be concrete and have a concrete diving platform. It won’t be just for Bruiser. It will be in the common area and our big cats will love it too. They can splash around, beat the Florida heat, and stay safe while having fun,” said Heath.

There are perks for helping. A $500 donation will get you a private interactive tour at Single Vision, whose mission is to educate the public on endangered wildlife. If you would like to donate to Bruiser's cause, visit his Indiegogo page here!
