Most of us with domestic cats know that our feline friends are usually fairly water-averse. Sure, they'll dip their paws into the water bowl and splash around a bit, but get them anywhere near the bathtub? Most cats will throw a hissy fit and scramble away as fast as possible.
However, wildcats are more prone to playing in larger bodies of water. In the heat, it's often a really refreshing way of cooling down. Big cats like lions, tigers, and jaguars also like to splash around in the water to have a little bit of fun!
Think of all the fun you've had swimming in the community pool for hours on end. I'm sure you've played with those sinking water rings, racing to see who could get the most the fastest. Those hours passed so quickly while underwater tea parties, diving contests, splash competitions, and races filled afternoons with lots of memories.
Another game is seeing who could hold their breath the longest.
When this jaguar dives right into this pool, I wasn't sure how well he'd fare underneath the surface.
But this cat's swimming skills could rival that of a fish! Not to mention he'd be able to beat most people in a who-can-hold-their-breath-longer contest. You have to see this cat chase his underwater snacks for yourself to truly believe a feline could be this expert of a swimmer.
