At the age of 18, Hannah Mongie learned she was pregnant with a baby boy. But devastation ripped the young growing family apart when Hannah's boyfriend Kaden died unexpectedly in his sleep, just days after hearing the baby's heartbeat at the eight-week prenatal scan. After Kaden's sudden death, Hannah made the gut-wrenching decision to place their baby for adoption.
Though she knew their son Tagg was her "last piece of Kaden," Hannah says she woke up one morning with an unrelenting feeling; the baby was supposed to be with someone else.
On March 21, 2016, Hannah delivered Tagg in Provo, Utah. She spent two days with him before tearfully handing Tagg to his adoptive parents.
The story was about to take another heartwarming turn. Hannah arranged an open adoption and continues to see Tagg every month. In fact, the adoptive parents live 10 minutes from her and she has formed an amazing bond with Emily, Tagg's adoptive mom. "Rather than 'giving him up' or 'away,' I just adopted his entire family into mine. Including his extended family," Hannah told KTVU. "We just grew, and everyone loves each other as if we’ve always been family. His mom Emily is still one of my best friends in the whole world. She honestly is everything I want to be as a person and a mother. I am so grateful that Tagg led me to her and their family."

Before saying her official goodbye to Tagg, however, Hannah recorded a very special video message for him. She recorded it during the intimate time they shared after his birth. "I hope anyone who watches this will be able to gain a new perspective on what the birth mom goes through when she places her child for adoption," she wrote on YouTube. "It is the FARTHEST thing from a heartless act. It shows the definition of love. To love someone this much is to give away your happiness for them."
Two years later, Hannah was ready to share the intimate video on YouTube. It now has 1.5 million views.
