High school senior Jacob Best was driving down a highway when he noticed something odd and alarming by the side of the road. He had to pull over because he saw an arm sticking out of a ditch.
The arm belonged to 37-year-old John Tyler, who had been thrown into the ditch after crashing into a deer on the same stretch of road.
With a head injury, he was unable to move. He was on the ground for six hours, invisible to any passersby. Only Jacob took notice when he saw the arm in the air.
Thankfully, he was able to stay by John's side until paramedics arrived to bring the biker to the hospital.
Jacob says John was lucky for more than one reason: Not only was he found, but in the nick of time too. In addition to his injuries, John could have died by drowning. Heavy rains in the area could have easily filled the ditch.
Now, John is in the hospital in intensive but stable condition. Hopefully he'll make a speedy recovery!
The teen who saved his life certainly makes a case for being awake and observant: You never know what can be hiding in plain sight.
