Sick Teen Can’t Make It To Homecoming So Friends Surprise Him With Dance In His Hospital Room

After prom, homecoming is probably the most exciting high school dance.

For lots of high schoolers, the weeks and days leading up to homecoming are filled with stress and excitement surrounding dates and dresses — but for Blake Mounts, bigger stressors were worrying him.

According to BuzzFeed, Blake was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.

Because of his treatment, Blake, who is just 17, was unable to attend his school's homecoming dance.

I'm sure having to miss such a fun event for any reason is a serious bummer, but I'd be willing to bet it was especially upsetting for Blake.

Luckily, Blake has some pretty incredible people in his life who weren't about to let him feel left out.

Instead, Blake's friends and sister threw the teen his very own homecoming — at the hospital!

Blake's good friend Kaitlin had wanted to ask him to homecoming, but soon realized she couldn't. That's when his sister, Taylor, came up with a brilliant idea: she and Kaitlin would bring homecoming to Blake in the hospital.

Blake told BuzzFeed that the dance was a thoughtful change. He says, "I’ve been pent up in this room. It was nice to actually be wearing normal clothes and stuff and be with my friends all in the same room.” The dance lasted about three hours.
