If you thought Halloween wasn't so scary, think again. One Texas woman succeeded in making the holiday a real-life nightmare, at least for one kid. The 35-year-old woman, Monica Ann Bradford, was apprehended and charged after she allegedly pulled a loaded gun on a 7-year-old who was trick-or-treating on Halloween night.
Bradford has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is a second-degree felony. Her bond is currently set at $10,000.
The Hays County Sheriff's Office released a statement about the incident. It said that Bradford pointed the gun at the child at about 7:20 p.m. as he walked in front of her home in Buda.
Bradford was obviously not feeling the spirit of Halloween. Her neighbor said that she asked her who was near her house. When the neighbor responded that she didn't know, she said she was going to get her gun.
She came back out with a loaded gun and pointed it at a 7-year-old child who was with his father near the end of her driveway. That's when a parent called police, and they quickly arrived at the scene. Thankfully no one was hurt.
Police shut down the street due to the incident and wouldn't allow trick-or-treaters near the woman's home. But the story is pretty freaky, even for Halloween. No one seemed to understand why Bradford was upset about trick-or-treaters, especially because she had her porch light turned on, which most people interpret as a way to say it's fine to come knocking.
Bradford was released from jail on Monday. But she could end up paying big time for her, uh, lapse in judgment. Pointing a loaded gun at a child is a serious and reckless crime.
It's unclear if she has a lawyer at this time.
