You've been wearing shoes with laces your whole life, I know. What more is there to know? What can anyone really show you about something as old as the shoelace?
Well, you're in for a treat. In less than 30 seconds, you'll find out that you were tying your shoes all wrong. Or at least, not the most quick, tight and efficient way.
Two loops sound like the standard "bunny ears knot," but there's a little more to this kind. It's called the Ian or a "Double Slip Knot," and with a little finesse, you'll be tying your shoes much faster and more securely.
When you're done learning how to tie an Ian, you might want to watch this sneaker tutorial. There's a reason why running shoes have those two extra holes up top!
The Ian is recommended for serious sports or tasks or securing shoes that feel a bit slippery. Let's say you a bought a pair a size too big and you've got a lot of room in the front — this could be the solution you've been searching for!
The Ian will help to secure the shoe around the ankle so that you don't slide around and possibly lose balance.
