Someone Is Living Behind This Billboard…And It’s NOT What You Think

The pictures below may look like ordinary billboards you'd see along any highway in America, but sometimes small spaces can hold big secrets!

These billboards are also new homes for the homeless!

A design team located in Slovakia had the ingenious idea that perhaps that if companies are already willing to pay for advertising on billboards, that maybe the very same funding can be utilized to turn those billboards into fully functional living spaces for the homeless!!

Project Gregory recently crowd-soured funds via Kickstarter to build the first prototype of such a structure. They aim to keep construction cheap using wooden OSBs.  The energy used to light the billboard at night would also function to light the space so that no extra energy is being used. Shaped in a triangle, and divided into two rooms: a living room/studio area and a bathroom, these new residences will utilize every possible space for maximum efficiency.

The designers attached to the project believe that construction of billboards is already costly enough but a few tweaks can turn these commercial necessities into benefits for society. And if the interior design seems crazy, it's only because they want the environment to be friendly and uplifting so the inhabitant feels encouraged to rejoin society. Too often homeless shelters are industrial, cold and even depressing.

They are actively seeking advertisers interested in aligning with social causes and they seek to have the first billboards built in early 2015. If the initial dwelling in Slovakia prove successful, they aspire to expand in Europe and eventually around the world.

The world needs more innovative thinkers like the Project Gregory designers, don't you agree? Please SHARE if you are as impressed with what these billboards can do as we are.
