Australian model Meaghan Kausman is absolutely stunning. And according to fashion industry standards, she's a "plus-sized" model at size 8 who, after completing a photoshoot with a swimwear company faced head-on the reality of societal pressures placed on women to be thin and perfect. Meaghan's photos were heavily photoshopped in such a way that her size was cut in half, her body was toned up and slimmed down — and instead of sitting back and doing nothing, she took action.
Meaghan courageously posted the original, un-retouched pictures on her Instagram account so that females would see what she really looks like. Then, she defended herself and women everywhere with her awesome captions that have made headlines Internet-wide.
“I recently did a photo shoot wearing Fella Swim, with an extremely passionate and talented underwater photographer, Pip. Her photos are magical; they capture women in water and celebrate their beauty. They had drastically altered my body, thinning out my stomach and thighs in an attempt to box me into the cultural ideal of beauty. Above is their version, below is the real version. My body is a size 8, not a size 4. That’s my body!
I refuse to stand by and allow ANY company or person to perpetuate the belief that ‘thinner is better. All women are beautiful, and we come in different shapes and sizes! This industry is crazy!!!! It is NOT OKAY to alter a woman’s body to make it look thinner. EVER!"
What do you think of Meaghan's response? I think it's incredibly brave, and I agree with EVERYTHING she said. Kudos to Meaghan.

Did this really need so much Photoshop?!

Beautiful, just as she is!
