They’re Covered In Blankets, But When He Sits Up, My Jaw Dropped

When talented people come together to spread awareness about an important issue, the results can be remarkable. Such is the case with the performance you're about to see.

Dance troupe "Cookies" took home the first place award at the VIBE XX 2015 competition. Their performance begins with a sad statistic: every day, 5,760 children become orphans. Then, the dancers break into a routine full of emotion, energy, and symbolism. Throughout the incredible show, they're covered in blankets, wearing pajamas, and laying in cots, as if they've become the orphans.

My favorite part comes at the 1:35 mark, when the dancers get playful with a hide-and-seek routine. There's so much creativity and nuance in every bit of this incredible performance!

The dancers performed in conjunction with World Vision Mobile and asked viewers to give their aid to the world's most vulnerable children and families by donating to various foundations that strive to help out others who are in need, such as emergency relief funds and food aid organizations. Cookies' message is just as powerful as their incredible performance.
