Awesome sex education activist Laci Green throws her weight around in this YouTube video with three revolutionary and simple ways to fight fat shaming.
“Why is fat such a big deal? Why is society such a big f-ing bully about it?” Laci asks. For starters, retailers push small sizes, and movies and TV shows routinely portray fat people negatively. It’s no wonder that fat discrimination has increased 66 percent in the last 10 years.
Watch Laci as she lays down her three life-changing insights into fighting fat phobia:
(1) Fat isn’t a bad word: Own your body fat, so it’s not an insult.
(2) It’s not about health: Realize that Fat doesn’t mean unhealthy, just like skinny doesn’t mean healthy. In fact, fat shaming has negative psychological health effects.
(3) Love thyself: Truly and completely loving your body – including your fat – is not only good for you, but it’s a direct threat to fat shame.
Fat shamers are actually suppressing fears within themselves. In shaming fat people, they feel better about themselves and their own insecurities. By embracing and proudly owning your fat, you’ll piss off those fat shamers and force them to confront their own fears.
