The bagpipes are perhaps the world's most annoying instrument. Its loud wail has been heard at funerals, Scottish festivals, and inside many a torture chamber. But one man is hoping to change the world's view on this odd instrument, and from the looks of it, he's on fire.
The Badpiper is a Scottish-Australian musician who enjoys taking everything you knew about the bagpipes and flipping it on its head. His dad wanted him to become more of a traditional bagpipe player, like the one who does a wonderful job assisting Dolly Parton in this beautiful version of "Amazing Grace," but the Badpiper prefers to march to the beat of a different, more hardcore drummer. The way he plays his bagpipes almost sounds like an electric guitar, especially when there's one of our favorite rock songs playing in the background!
In this performance, the Badpiper rocks out to ACDC's "Thunderstruck." I was pretty amazed with his talent from the start, but when :24 came around, I nearly fell out of my chair! How can you even rig a bagpipe to do something that crazy?! I never thought I'd be this blown away by a bagpipe performance, but this takes the traditional Scottish instrument to an extreme I never thought possible.
My favorite part of the Badpiper's routine has to be his facial expressions. This guy really proves that you don't need a fancy guitar to rock out…but having a fancy bagpipe definitely helps.
