Nature is incredible, but we humans usually only get to see it from the ground level. YouTube user Tan Nguyen decided to get a different perspective when he noticed that a mother robin had built a nest and laid eggs. He set up his GoPro camera on a branch with the intention of capturing the moment her eggs hatched. Instead, he got an unexpected, but equally fascinating, surprise.
We usually think of snakes as being the type of animal to hide in the grass, but these reptiles are surprisingly adept at climbing trees. When the mother robin left her nest, one crafty serpent took the opportunity to grab some lunch. Just like this snake that slithered its way into a family's kitchen, the reptile in this video has an appetite for eggs, and it had no trouble gobbling down all of the ones in the nest. Unlike this mama rabbit that attacked the snake that tried to eat her babies, the mother robin was too late to even try to save her eggs from becoming a meal. But at least the snake doesn't have to go hungry now!
Even though some may find it a bit sad that the robin's eggs were eaten, it's still super-cool to see the circle of life in action. It's so neat to watch the egg travel down the snake's body when it swallows! Hopefully, the robin will soon be able to lay more eggs and start a family without having to worry about egg-eating predators.
