Man Sells Home That’s Remained Untouched Since The 1950s

Peter, a 69-year-old vineyard owner, grew up in a "time capsule" house with his brother, sister, and parents. When you see the inside, your jaw will drop.

He was seven when they moved to the house on Allendale Road in Stockton, UK. Peter's parents, Freda and Robert, have both passed away. Now, the three siblings are looking for a new family who will appreciate and enjoy the special house as much as they did. They've listed the home online, opening its doors for the public's viewing pleasure. Needless to say, the internet is going nuts.

“We always thought that it was the nicest house in the road," he says. "It was built by a John Lewis in 1909 and he lived in it until he died, and then his wife took over the property until she died. My father bought it in 1952 — so it has only had two owners.”

When his parents bought the home, they dedicated themselves to decorating it to the very highest of standards. The pair loved 1950s decor so much that the interior has remained fairly untouched since the initial overhaul. Everything is circa 1950, from the carpets and wallpaper to the built-in furniture. 63 years later, the decor is still intact. Peter, a father of three and grandfather of six says, "We had a very happy childhood growing up. My memories will always be as it is now."

You may not be able to tell as you walk up to the front door, but Peter's parents had a strong affinity for 1950's decor — so much so that the home has remained fairly untouched ever since. Everything from the carpets to the built-in furniture is straight out of the 50s.

The house on Allendale Road has only been lived in by two owners -- Peter's family, and the original owner who built the home using incredible materials. Mahogany picture rails and skirtings still remain inside.

After Peter's dad passed away in 1999, his mom Freda lived in the house by herself. She never dreamed of changing the home's decor -- which, in the 1950s, was the epitome of modern style. See the kitchen peeking out back there?

Today, the powder pink counters and cabinets might turn some people off, but it's precisely what makes this room my favorite in the entire house.

The home's true beauty lies in the soft yet regal furnishings. Peter's father also installed one of the first central heating systems in Stockton. The old radiator is the type typically seen in stately homes.
