What’s Clinging To His Fingers? When I Realized, I Squealed!

What's that on his hand? Oh, just two teeny, tiny, miniscule baby bat siblings who need a lot of love and care. Yup. And they're as cute as can be!

Filmed at the Jaguar Rescue Center in Costa Rica, I watched in awe as a staff member named Piccio feeds the newborn babies that were brought in with their mother, who sadly passed away.

There's definitely a stigma attached to bats; many people think they're ugly, scary, dangerous, or all of the above. However, thanks to viral videos, bats are becoming more accepted for the adorable animals they truly are. Remember the baby bats swaddled in blanket like burritos as the Australian Bat Clinic? About 300 bat pups are orphaned in just that area of world annually. That's a lot of orphaned bats who need caretakers like Piccio.

The Jaguar Rescue Center works on rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals — like monkeys, birds and reptiles — and their future release to the wild, always in protected areas. The Center is open to the public with guided tours available.
