If you recently happened to be walking down a street in Minneapolis, Minnesota, you might have noticed something strange on the sidewalk: tiny doors have begun appearing around the city.
Some people are too busy or distracted to even notice them. However, those who stumble across the mysterious doors are in for a real treat.
A local anonymous artist decided to go tiny with his new project in order to inspire one simple thing often missing from bustling city life: joy.
“I decided to put something down low, something people could interact with rather than see up high, to be in places where people don’t expect to find them [and] provide a moment of interest or a moment of delight while people are walking along," the artist said.
The artist is hoping to get people to slow down and pay attention to the beauty around them. He says the payoff from his project comes in the form of smiles from the folks who manage to spot them. What has been even more rewarding is seeing real people interact with them.
Some employees from local business Dangerous Man Brewing noticed the tiny home, so they decided to bring it an appropriately tiny gift.
“We saw the little door and we have all these plants in the brewery, so we thought that he would want a little welcome plant for the house,” a brewery employee said.
Ultimately, the artist hopes to keep others alert, looking down, and feeling positive.
