Tiny Houses, Tree Houses, And Other Totally Unique Homes You Can Actually Stay In Right Now

We love our classic vacation spots for so many reasons. We feel like we can relax and kick back in a place that's comfortable and feels like home, even though it's not our home. But plenty of people like to go on vacation for other reasons, too mainly, for the feeling of adventure and leaving behind the mundane.

In that case, you may want to stay somewhere a little different than just your standard condo by the beach (not that that doesn't sound great, too). There are tons of houses that may be off the beaten path, a bit quirky, or even totally out there. And no, they aren't just made for social media. You can actually stay in them.

We scoured the internet for some of the coolest houses, from tiny homes, to tree houses, to hay silos in the middle of nowhere, that you can actually rent right now. We're guessing some of these spots you'll have to see to believe. They are just that incredible.

A Tiny House In The Mountains, Asheville, NC

When most people think of vacay, they think of luxury and luxury often means more room. But for some, a tiny house can be just what the doctor ordered. Tiny homes mean less fuss and more adventure. Tiny homes can feel downright luxurious, too. Many are as cozy at this rental in Asheville, North Carolina.

A Treehouse, Coventry, VT

If you thought tree houses were just for kids, think again! This beautiful more adult-style house has a lot to offer (hello, views) and a super fancy feel. It's the ultimate place to relax after a day of skiing on the nearby slopes. You can have a soak in the hot tub while looking out over the pond below, or cruise through the nearby town. Seriously, it would be really hard to check out of this one.

A Remote Cabin, Oldedalen, Norway

This beautiful cabin is out of this world. Well, not quite but if you live in the US, it's quite the trek. Still, it will make you feel like you're living inside a daydream! The mountain views are so beautiful and majestic and from your dream-like location you can explore just about everywhere you can see on the nearby hiking trails.

A Glass Home, Mustasaari, Finland

If you're going to Finland, staying in a glass house is probably the way to see it. The views, which include the incredible Kvarken Archipelago, quite literally surround this amazing home. It's located on the tip of an island and it's the perfect getaway, especially because no one will be able to find you.

Hopeland Farm, Pennsylvania

If farm living is the vacay life you for, you might want to pay Hopeland Farm a visit. There's an adorable dog, as there should be on any proper farm, of course. But the 100-acre working farm in Pennsylvania Dutch Country has so many other great qualities, like farm fresh eggs to start your morning off right, and wide open spaces.

A Gingerbread House, Northern California

No, you can't exactly eat it. But this house in Northern California is about as close to a real-life gingerbread house as you'll find. It's right smack in the middle of wine country, too, so really, what more could you ask for? The home is next to an Egyptian-themed retreat center. What a treat!

Haystack Haus, Oregon

This place is really the best of both worlds. It's a beautiful house that's tucked into the woods but it's also right next to the beach it literally has everything! Plus, the interior of the cabin is amazing. There are tons of nearby hiking trails. Or you can just hang out and enjoy the lovely scenery from just about anywhere on the amazing decks.

Wild Sheep's Hut, Cumbria, England

If you want the real English experience, this B&B is perfect. It's a hut in the middle of Lake District. There's tons of beautiful greenery at your door, but you can also hop over to a nearby pub. Of course, breakfast is included every day of your stay here.

A Glass House In The Woods, Husdon Valley, NY

People in this house should really not throw stones. No, really. This completely glassed-in house has a big appeal simplicity. It's right in the middle of the woods in Hudson Valley. And there's not much to do in it besides sit back, relax, and enjoy the views. They are literally all around.

An Island Hut, Panama

When headed on an island vacation, sure, you could stay at a resort. Of you could venture off the grid to this hut on Isla San Cristobal. You can pretty much do whatever you want there, like snorkel the reef that's just under your feet. Word is, you're likely to see a few dolphins.

A Cave Apartment, Italy

A cave doesn't sound that dreamy but this one in Italy sure is. This ancient apartment, which is decorated simply, is certainly something to marvel at. From the stone to the surroundings, you won't be bored for one minute of your stay. If you get tired of being indoors, it also has a beautiful private terrace outside.

A Castle in France

It may not be an actual castle but it sure looks medieval! The rooms are up at the very top of the tower. And the word is the croissants are delicious.

A cottage in Finland

This beautiful cottage on the lake is actually pretty up to date! Take cruise around the beautiful lake and enjoy the scenery. Or cozy up inside and enjoy all the modern amenities! It's definitely remote but if you love to get off the beaten path, this place is a dream come true.
