It Looks Like A Simple Shed From The Outside… But What’s Inside? I’m Floored!

In Japan, tiny homes are a common way to deal with the country’s crowded living space.

Some of these well-designed homes are as small as 300 square feet, NPR reports. One home in particular that gained worldwide attention was built on a triangular lot, but the inside is more luxurious than you’d ever imagine.

These Japanese-inspired homes are becoming a trend in America as well. After his trip to Japan, Chris Heininge was inspired by the micro gems he saw and built one of his own when he returned home.

Heininge, a former Christian missionary, constructed a 10' x 20' home in Aurora, OR. Standing just 15 feet tall, it includes a living room, kitchen, bathroom (with a Jacuzzi bathtub), and loft bedroom up a few stairs. He also didn’t leave out any modern-day luxuries: the kitchen has a TV and DVD player.

A tiny house like the one below typically takes about three months to build, Heininge told LittleThings.

“In recent years, many people are moving away from the idea of big ‘McMansions’ and discovering the joys of living ‘tiny,’ ” he writes on his website. “A tiny house not only costs less to build, but is also far cheaper to heat, cool, and maintain, so you save money while reducing your environmental impact.”

He said a house like this usually takes about three months to construct for one person. It seems he had some help though!

When you walk in through the sliding doors, you see the living room with that blue couch.

The bathroom, which has a Jacuzzi bathtub, showcases a great way to save space with that storage area for towels.
