A house has mysteriously disappeared. Yes. You read that right — an entire 1,200-square-foot house. Four walls, a roof, approximately a couple thousand pounds. Gone. Poof!
I know. So many questions…
Police had no idea what to make of the news when they were notified last Tuesday that someone had hypothetically stolen an Oregon home.
“We had a complete home stolen. This isn’t a motor home, this isn’t a mobile home. This is a home,” said Sheriff Frank Skrah.
It was not a mobile home, so there were no wheels. This was a house with a foundation. And a patio. And stairs! How could someone conceivably steal it?
Believe it or not, there are companies that specialize in moving non-mobile homes. You can search for a house moving company in your area by simply searching through the member database on the International Association of Structural Movers' website. Moving an entire house is possible, but it's expensive. Plus, you need a ton of permits, and whoever stole this home had to have some knowledge of how to move large structures in order to pull this off.
It makes your head spin.
Watch the video below and learn all the details of this bizarre story. You can also familiarize yourself with the house, because, who knows, maybe you'll see it barreling down the highway someday? An entire house in motion is a pretty conspicuous thing.
