‘Top Gear’ Tests Its Version of James Bond’s ‘Invisible’ Aston Martin

BBC's Top Gear is at it again! The series has taken up the challenge to recreate a few of James Bond's swanky rides just ahead of the franchise's new film, Spectre. Most recently, we saw them successfully recreate "Wet Nellie," the spy's submarine car!

So if a car that can function underwater can be a reality, can another one of Bond's rides, the "invisible" Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, be a possibility too?

The car made an appearance in 2002's Die Another Day, in which the spy activated a switch to make the car completely invisible, tires and all!

Top Gear's host, Richard Hammond, takes us through the features of the "invisible" car made by the show  on a budget.

An Aston Martin was a bit out of price range, so engineers modified a Ford Transit, adding cameras and large TV screens on the sides of the vehicle. The cameras film everything around them, and the image is relayed onto the screen on the each side of the van. The large panels should not just obscure the van itself, but also reflect a live feed of the scene around them.

So did the engineers at Top Gear succeed? Can a car truly be completely invisible? Watch the clip to see the van in action!
