He Takes A Shoebox Out Of His Mini Fridge. What’s Inside? I Did NOT Expect That!

Neil Slorance is an artist from Glasgow, Scotland who loves comics, illustration, and painting. But do you know what he loves even more than those things? His pet tortoise, Herman!

He loves the little guy so much that he not only keeps a mini fridge in his office just so the tortoise can hibernate safely, but he also weighs him meticulously all the time and records the results to make sure that everything is going smoothly.

In the video below, Herman has been hibernating for about four months, and now, Neil is going to show us what it's like to "unbox" a hibernating tortoise.

He opens the refrigerator and removes the shoebox — which is full of holes in its lid so Herman can breath — and removes the adorable reptile from a bed of newspaper.

The 11-year-old tortoise almost looks frozen when Neil places him on a dish towel, but Herman is really just groggy from four months of sleep. Within five minutes, he's moving around and starting to get his wits about him, before it's time for his bath.

The whole process is not only totally adorable, but it's also fascinating. If you're a fan of reptiles, you'll absolutely love it.

And, if you had any concerns about Herman being in a refrigerator for four months, Neil posted a follow-up video (you can find it right on his YouTube page) that explains the hibernation process, how he keeps his tortoise safe, and even what he feeds him.

Hope you had a great nap, Herman!
