Farmer In Japan Creates A Fragrant Garden For His Wife When She Loses Her Sight

It’s beautiful and inspiring to see the lengths that some people will go to in order to make others happy.

There’s a lot of talk about how selfish the world has become, and about how many people have trouble prioritizing others.

Fortunately, there are dozens of strong, passionate, and selfless human beings all over the world doing their bit to disprove those rumors with their heartwarming messages and actions.

It’s beautiful to see good samaritans in action, no matter who the beneficiary is, but there’s something extra special about seeing a husband or wife go the extra mile for his or her spouse.

There aren’t many things more important than supporting your life partner, as we saw with the sweet husband who wrote his wife a special song after he discovered she was struggling with her weight.

After all, who else in the world will be there for you when times get tough, no matter what?

That’s why we were totally blown away by the adorable gesture one man in Japan made for his wife after she lost her vision.

Toshiyuki and Yasuko Kuroki have lived together in Miyazaki Prefecture of Japan for decades. The husband and wife spent years hard at work running their dairy farm, with plans to travel together after retirement.

But one day, after 30 years of marriage, Yasuko Kuroki realized that her sight was fading.

Roughly one week later, it was gone for good, lost to complications from diabetes.

She was devastated and fell into a deep depression. Without her sight, what was there for her to enjoy?

But her loving husband wasn’t giving up so easily. Walking around his garden one day, he suddenly hit on a plan to cheer his wife up.

He had noticed the beauty of a small flower growing on the property, one called shibazakura in Japanese, but might be better known to English speakers as phlox.

Toshiyuki realized that, while the flowers were certainly pretty to look at, their beauty could be enjoyed with more than one sense, thanks to their fragrant blooms.

It took Toshiyuki two years to lay the foundation, and eight more years to elevate his garden to its current level.

Now, the Kuroki home is surrounded by thousands of the small pink blossoms, and, just as predicted, tourists flock from all over to see the garden in bloom.

Now, their quaint farmhouse is surrounded by vast drifts of the sweet smelling phlox, and their extravagant garden is truly a thing of beauty!

The flowers grow up and around all of the surrounding terrain, carefully tended by the dedication and husbandry of Toshiyuki Kuroki.

But most importantly? Yasuko Kuroki is smiling again, which is all that her husband ever really wanted.

Their bountiful garden helped her learn to ‘see’ the world with all of her senses and brings the whole world right to her!
