The massive popularity of YouTube has made local news gaffes something of a commonplace occurrence. It seems like almost every day there's a new video making the round on the Internet of someone doing something silly or embarrassing during a local news broadcast. Some of them are pretty great, but the regularity of them appearing has made them lose their luster just a bit.
That being said, there are times when a great example of local news hilarity comes along that's just too good to pass up. The below video, from WBFF Fox45 Baltimore, absolutely falls into the too-good-to-pass-up category.
The video begins with the station's Traffic and Entertainment Reporter Candace Dold finishing up her report when she throws the broadcast to a live feed of their popular on-the-scene reporter named Traffic Jam Jimmy.
The only problem is that Traffic Jam Jimmy isn't exactly ready for his live broadcast. In fact, the first thing viewers hear him say is, "Is it too early to get a fish sandwich?"
Ha! Traffic Jam Jimmy is clearly in a McDonald's parking lot (which, judging by the McDonald's bag in his backseat, is a frequent stop for the reporter) trying to get a fish sandwich at some ridiculously early hour.
He pulls around the drive-thru and finally turns to the camera in his car to say, "Hey, I'm sorry. I've been in the car since 4 o'clock [AM]. I am starving. I'm just getting something real quick."
Still in the midst of the live shot, Jimmy continues to pull around and actually order his food. Unfortunately for him, he has to settle for breakfast, as it's too early for a fish sandwich, but fortunately for viewers they get to witness this hilarity taking place.
As Jimmy makes his way around the parking lot to pay, he tells viewers to stay in their homes because the roads are terrible. Way to go, Jimmy!
He finishes his report with, "Alright, don't tell the boss I did this." Ha!
If you're wondering why Jimmy is sporting a bright orange beard, according to his Facebook page, he actually died his lengthy beard orange to support those suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. He may seem like a real character, but Traffic Jam Jimmy clearly has a heart of gold as well.
