Rescue Kitten Gets A Second Chance At Life Thanks To An Animal Rehabilitation Organization

Without the hard work of pet shelter volunteers, countless strays would be euthanized or left on the streets. One kitten was given a second chance at a happy life following a bumpy first few months.

This story comes to us from The Pet Collective, who've brought us some of our favorite animal videos in recent memory. They shared stories of rehabilitation of kittens Quenby and Qorn, and a playful rescue named Bronte who never allows her disability to slow her down. They've now another great story of survival of a kitten who was paired with a forever home that will care for her special needs.

Aptly named Tumbelina, this tiny kitten has cerebellar hypoplasia. According to PetMD, the condition occurs when the cerebellum doesn't develop fully at birth, resulting in a number of developmental disabilities such as trembling, difficulty eating, and in some cases an inability to walk. The latter affected Tumbelina and she would have likely been put down by a kill shelter if she hadn't been rescued by Valley Cats Inc, a volunteer organization that works to prepare animals for adoption through rehabilitation. Valley Cats worked with her through special therapy to help her gain some strength in her muscles and learn to walk with the aid of a special wheelchair.
