Zendaya — darling of stage, screen, and style — rocked an incredibly fierce pixie cut to the Grammys this year with her stripy, '70s-style Vivienne Westwood gown. Like most ultra-chic moments, there were immediate copycats as everyone clamored after her cool retro look and sleek ‘do.
While the look is indisputably cute, there were some initial fears that she had made the drastic chop in response to Fashion Police host Giuliana Rancic’s ignorant comments in February on the gorgeous locs that Zendaya wore for the Oscars. Fortunately, we now know that the stellar starlet took no such action, and was actually wearing a wig for the evening of the Grammys. Because, FYI, she’s amazing, and fearless, and will not be bullied.
To summarize so far, this young lady made a superb fashion move (as if she ever makes any other kind) without sacrificing any dignity to a mean girl with a microphone. And then, as if that wasn’t amazing enough, Tyra Banks, supermodel and host of America’s Next Top Model, copied the cut — for real this time. Plus, she then basically confessed that she saw it on Zendaya first! The established star and the bright young thing had the sweetest Twitter conversation re: their amazing new hair.
