Disturbing and heartbreaking updates continue to unfold from a crime scene in Idaho, were four students from the University of Idaho were found dead in their rented apartment.
Police have confirmed that the students were stabbed with a knife in what they are calling a “targeted” homicide. Authorities told the Daily Mail that the scene was “the worst they’ve ever seen” and that the victims were tragically left to bleed out.
“There was blood everywhere,” a source told the outlet.
The Daily Mail reported from the scene that the bloodshed was so bad inside the home, an outside wall of the residence began to leak blood.
“We have investigators who have been on the job for 20, even 30, years, and they say they have never seen anything like this.”
The young victims were identified Monday as Ethan Chapin, 20; Madison Mogen, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21. Each was involved on their campus and a member of a sorority or fraternity.
Police were seen earlier this week rummaging through trash cans outside of the residence.
Sources told the Daily Mail that they are searching for the sharp "edged weapon" that was used in the crime.
Mayor of Moscow, Idaho, Art Bettge, said the murders appeared to be a “one-off” situation and that there is no continued threat at the time.
“Something had occurred that resulted in these deaths,” he added, telling the media that nothing was stolen from the scene.
