30-Year-Old Posts Smiling Selfie, Then Reveals She Snapped It Hours Before Lung Cancer Diagnosis

Many think that the only people who get lung cancer are smokers.

We all know that smoking cigarettes can lead to a higher risk of lung cancer, but you don't have to be a smoker to get this scary form of cancer.

Even young, seemingly healthy people can get lung cancer, a fact that 30-year-old Vicky Veness recently learned.

Vicky is not only young, she's also a runner, a personal trainer, a healthy eater, and a nonsmoker. It never even entered her mind that she would be at risk for cancer.

When she started experiencing symptoms, she went to her doctor, who told her it was just asthma. Given her incredible health record, even the doctors didn't think about cancer.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what it was: stage 4 lung cancer.

If Vicky hadn't listened to her body, doctors may not have caught it until even later. Read Vicky's story below.

Vicky explained what happened to her on Facebook, where her post quickly got a lot of attention.

Within less than a week, her post had over 2,400 reactions and over 740 shares.

Just a warning that this post may be upsetting to read.

This photo was taken a few hours before I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

I’m 30 years old, a personal trainer, runner, nonsmoker and healthy eater.

When you have cancer you won't necessarily look ill on the outside.

The symptoms might be much more subtle and only show themselves occasionally.

Unfortunately, my symptoms were brushed off as asthma by many general practitioners.

The moral of the story is this: if you feel unwell for whatever reason, it doesn’t matter how silly you might think it might be, see your doctor, question everything and keep going back until you get the answers you need.
