Vintage Halloween costumes seem to have had an extra spooky aspect to them when viewed from a modern perspective.
Heck, I'm sure at least half of the costume examples shown in the photos below still managed to scare the daylights out of more than a few folks back in the day! Of course, the holiday is supposed to be at least a little bit on the creepier side. That said, this peek into the past might make you feel like the subjects from each picture will come back to haunt you.
It's actually pretty incredible how a cheap plastic mask can make a totally innocent costume transform into something absolutely terrifying. Plus, you never know what really could be hiding beneath those fake faces.
