This vintage music video went viral back in 2011 when Robert E. Jeffrey posted it on YouTube.
At the time, no one knew what happened that could have inspired such a magnificent performance and almost perfect Madonna impression from a 9-year-old boy, but we finally have our answer!
Robert says that in 1991, he was visiting Hampton Beach, NH, with his parents during the holiday break. “A business in the casino at the time gave tourists the chance to lip-sync to their favorite pop songs in front of a blue screen background, and I was lucky enough to partake that summer.”
Apparently, that’s all the incentive he needed to create a sensation that would soon take the world by storm.
We’re no strangers to talented children over here! Particularly when the dancers are young boys, as they haven't been encouraged to explore dance as a form of expression in the past. But with incredible kids like Sean Lew and Merrick Hanna tearing it up, I’m delighted to see that perception of masculinity changing for the better.
And as for Robert? It was no accident that he selected Madonna’s work as a means to let loose. He says he was “paying tribute to the woman who changed [his] life and continues to inspire [him] just as much today as 20 years ago.”
