For anyone who doesn't believe in fate, you might want to sit back and take a listen to this utterly incredible story.
Back in 1944, a 15-year-old boy named Clare McIntosh was having some fun with his friends at a local movie theater in Nevada, IA. But it seems like he might have been having too much fun, because on one fateful day, he lost his wallet and never managed to find it.
He had pictures of his family, some Boy Scouts information, and even ration stamps from the war. And while he always wondered what happened to his wallet, eventually the memory disappeared after years of having other wallets.
More than 70 years came and passed. The wars, the peace, the landing on the moon, the hippies, the fall of the Berlin Wall — with all of that history, it's no surprise that Clare totally forgot about a silly wallet.
And then he got a phone call.
It turns out that that local theater was still up and running, and after doing some work on revamping the space, the current owner found the wallet hidden under the floor. He found McIntosh after a bit of research and was able to finally reunite the wallet with its owner after an entire lifetime.
