The flooding in Louisiana, which took place in August 2016, is considered one of the worst natural disaster in U.S. history.
The impacted community needed its local food bank more than ever, and though the facility was damaged in the wake of the floods, it was up-and-running in mere weeks to make sure families were fed.
The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank endured five feet of water. Over half a million pounds of food was destroyed overnight. However, the staff rallied to rebuild what was lost. They banded together, determined to get the job done.
But what makes this story even more special is the fact that the Food Bank's five employees were each dealing with their own heartbreak. Their homes were destroyed in the flooding, along with everything inside. Their families were left stranded with no where to go. Despite their nightmares, they did not miss one day of work.
