Mom Dumps 2 Walmart Goldfish In Pond. Years Later, Dad Looks In The Water And Sees They’re Huge

Goldfish are known as a childhood pet you use as "practice" in learning how to be responsible. Goldfish are relatively low maintenance pets: you feed them and change their water. However, it always seems like they die after just a few weeks or months. You can also buy them cheaply almost anywhere! Walk into any pet store, Walmart, or county fair, and you're bound to find a few for sale.

However, on a few rare occasions, goldfish survive and thrive. They can live for years in the right conditions. Reddit user TobiDaDog and his family recently found this out after the user's father tried to drain the family's man-made pool for maintenance.

The user's mother reportedly purchased two goldfish from Walmart and put them in the pond to surprise her husband. However, she totally forgot about them! Fast forward years later, to present-day. Her husband found the two fish not only healthy and alive, but huge!

Now scroll down to see the two fish for yourself.

According to TheGoldfishTank.com, goldfish can live for over 40 years.

They can also grow to over a foot long! A goldfish's growth can be stunted by poor water quality and small tanks. In the right environment, they have the potential to reach their full size.
