By the time he was 28 years old, Pasquale "Pat" Brocco was morbidly obese. At 605 lbs., the Avondale, AZ, man nicknamed "Fat Pat" had dangerously high blood pressure and cholesterol.
Three years ago, Pat's doctor informed him that if he didn't change his lifestyle soon, he was going to die. With a 1-year-old son to raise, Pat knew he needed to heed his doctor's advice.
When Pat got home from his doctor's appointment, he snapped a shirtless selfie in front of the mirror. This was the start of his incredible transformation. However, it's the way in which he lost the bulk of his weight that makes his story so unique.
Since Pat was too large to fit on most exercise machines, he decided that every time he was hungry for a meal, he would walk to his nearest Walmart and back — one mile each way from his house.
After years of walking six miles every day to Walmart and back, Pat looks unrecognizable from the person he was before.
Three years ago, this was Pasquale "Fat Pat" Brocco.
At 605 lbs., the Arizona man was told by his doctor that if he didn't correct his high blood pressure and cholesterol, he would die.
Pat knew he couldn't leave his 1-year-old son without a father.
But after a lifetime of unhealthy habits, he also knew that losing the weight was going to be a challenge.
When Pat got home from his doctor's appointment, he took a photo of himself in front of a mirror.
He was disgusted with himself. "My stomach was down to my thighs," he told ABC News. "My chest was hanging down here," he said, pointing to his stomach.
Pat came up with an unbelievable plan. Every time he was hungry for a meal, he vowed to walk the one mile to his closest Walmart, then one mile back home to eat.
He did the Walmart walk three times a day, and ended up walking six miles every day for two years straight.
The weight started falling off, and Pat began replacing fatty foods with whole foods, like his beloved gallons of milk for water.
"Once I figured out dairy was my downfall, I took it out of my diet, and instantly, I started losing weight again," he said.
Eventually, Pat replaced his walks to and from Walmart with incline walks on a treadmill. Finally, he was able to use gym equipment he never could fit on before.
In less than two years, he lost 200 lbs.
Because Pat lost so much weight, he decided to have 30 lbs. of excess skin surgically removed.
Today, Pat is 330 lbs. lighter — and instead of being known as "Fat Pat," he's now known as "Possible Pat."
More than anything, he hopes to be a role model for his 1-year-old son.
