Veteran Expects To Buy 2 Items At Grocery Store. Stranger Starts Filling Up His Cart

Reporter Dave Hall and the FOX5 Surprise Squad were spreading kindness in a busy Las Vegas grocery store, but they didn't expect to be so inspired by two local veterans along the way. First, Dave met Stephanie in the check-out line, a disabled veteran who was bound to a wheelchair. Stephanie barely had enough money to feed herself or her beloved dogs. In fact, she was down to her last 50 dollars.

Dave and the team happily paid for Stephanie's items, then turned their attention to the man who accompanied her to the store that day. His name was Larry, and Stephanie's husband was one of his fellow club members and a truck driver who was always on the road. Larry, another struggling veteran, would sacrifice his own time to drive Stephanie everywhere she needed to go. "No vet should be going through what she's going through," Larry told Dave.

Larry, who lost several of his brothers in the Vietnam War, helped established a charity called Bones for Blankets which donates much-needed blankets to homeless veterans.

Low on cash, Larry was only going to buy two items at the supermarket that day: mouthwash and a piece of candy. But once Dave and the Surprise Squad heard his story, they decided that wasn't going to fly, Instead, they led Larry back down the grocery aisles for a very special surprise.

"You served us, now it's time to serve you."

Larrey's reaction is simply the best. What goes around comes around.
