12 Celebrities That Went Off The Radar After Being On The A-List

Macaulay Culkin was wildly famous in the 1990s for his roles in movies like the Home Alone series, My Girl, and Richie Rich.

Culkin retired from acting at age 14. He currently plays in a comedy-rock band called "The Pizza Underground." He's made a couple of cameo appearances in advertisements and music videos, but it seems that he has no desire to return to Hollywood life.

Meg Ryan became famous in the early '90s for romantic comedies like Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, and When Harry Met Sally, where she became legendary for her now-iconic restaurant scene.

Ryan has guest-starred in a few TV shows and acted in a few movies, but none of them have been nearly as successful as the ones she starred in twenty years ago. She hasn't appeared in anything in recent years, leading many to wonder if we'll ever see this actress on the silver screen again.

Known for her roles in Jerry Maguire, Chicago, and of course, Bridget Jones' Diary, Renée Zellweger has been a household name for years.

Zellweger's career has slowed down significantly for the past seven years or so, with many of the films she's appeared in either flopping at the box office or getting direct-to-DVD releases. She's set to appear in the upcoming movie The Whole Truth with Keanu Reeves, but whether that will be enough to make her star shine as brightly as it did before remains to be seen.

Tony-Award-winning actor Matthew Broderick rose to fame with the release of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He also starred in the 2005 film The Producers and even voiced adult Simba in Disney's The Lion King.

Aside from a couple of voiceover roles for animated movies such as The Tale Of Despereaux, Broderick hasn't made any major comebacks in the film industry. He's acted in a few Broadway performances, but hasn't really done anything noteworthy for years.

"The Hoff" rose to fame for his roles in the soap opera The Young and the Restless, and, of course, Baywatch. He also had a chart-topping music career and has appeared on numerous reality shows, including Dancing With the Stars.

Most of the roles that Hasselhoff has taken in recent years have been self-parodies, such as when he appeared in Dodgeball and The Spongebob Squarepants Movie. But aside from a few guest appearances on television, he hasn't shown any signs of returning to the levels of fame he once enjoyed during Baywatch.

The world fell in love with Lindsay Lohan when she was just eleven years old and starred in Disney's remake of The Parent Trap. She later achieved further stardom with her roles in Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, and Herbie: Fully Loaded. Her debut album, Speak, was certified Platinum in 2005.

After multiple stints in rehab and run-ins with the law, Lohan's career took a major turn for the worse. Her  occasional movie and TV appearances — which have often been put on hold due to her legal troubles — have received mixed or negative reviews, and it appears as though the actress' time as one of Hollywood's sweethearts has officially ended.

Haley Joel Osment had a very successful career as a child star thanks to his small role as Forrest Gump's son and his major roles in The Sixth Sense and A.I.: Artificial Intelligence.

Although he's taken a couple of live-action roles since he reached adulthood, none of the movies Osment has appeared in have achieved much success. In fact, these days, he's best known for his voiceover roles for the characters of Sora and Vanitas in the Kingdom Hearts video game series.

After appearing in three Aerosmith music videos ("Crazy," "Amazing," and "Cryin' "), Alicia Silverstone was cast to play in the iconic teen movie Clueless. She also had a role as Batgirl in Batman and Robin.

These days, Silverstone doesn't do a lot of acting, but she's an outspoken animal and environmental activist. She landed on part of the New York Times Best Seller List with her book, The Kind Life, which focuses on vegan nutrition.

With roles in movies like Top Gun, Tombstone, and Top Secret!, it's no surprise that Val Kilmer became so famous in the '80s and '90s. But perhaps his best-known performance was when he played Bruce Wayne himself in the 1995 movie Batman Forever.

Kilmer hasn't appeared in any significant roles for a number of years, though he has become active in the Christian Science community. His most recent work was a voiceover role for the character Bravo from the Disney movie Planes in 2013.

Helen Hunt has achieved massive success as an actress thanks to her roles in the sitcom Mad About You and in movies like As Good As It Gets, Cast Away, Twister, and What Women Want.

Apart from an Oscar-nominated performance as a sex surrogate in 2012's The Sessions, Hunt hasn't appeared in any major films since the early 2000s. She does, however, own a production company with Connie Tavel called Hunt/Tavel Productions.

Action star and martial artist Steven Seagal achieved stardom in the 1990s with films like Marked For Death, Hard To Kill, and Out For Justice. His 1992 movie Under Siege was a massive blockbuster that brought him international fame.

After most of his subsequent films became direct-to-DVD releases, Seagal began to focus more on his musical career (he plays the guitar) and work as a Reserve Deputy Chief  in the Louisiana Sheriff's Office. His work in law enforcement has become the subject of the A&E show Steven Seagal: Lawman.

Known for her roles as Brenda in Beverly Hills: 90210 and Prue in Charmed, Shannen Doherty is a well-known TV star of the '90s and early 2000s. She also appeared on the 10th season of Dancing With the Stars.

Although she's appeared in a few random made-for-TV movies and reality shows, Doherty hasn't been seen in the spotlight nearly as much as she was in her heyday. She's an avid supporter of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, which focuses on battling whale and seal hunting using tactics that are considered by some as being extreme.
