Watch A Styrofoam Cup Mysteriously Dissolve Into Nothing In This Experiment

These days, it seems like absolutely anything and everything that we use is loaded up with artificial chemicals that are simply not natural.

While we certainly don't suggest that any of you try the experiment in the video below, it certainly proves just how powerful some of the additives we use in our day-to-day lives really are.

It may seem surprising, but the Styrofoam cup in the video below is completely melted by something you might use at least once a week: acetone!

That's right. Acetone is the main ingredient in nail polish remover, and it won't be very surprising if you keep it in your own house or if your children have it in theirs! Every day, untold gallons of this stuff are bought and sold simply to wipe away nail polish. But who knew it could completely destroy this cup? Pretty intense when you watch it happen and think about putting it on your own fingers!

Please don't try this at home. While the experimenter was not hurt from the acetone, there's just something a bit odd about seeing the cup and ink melt away into a big gob. Hopefully it didn't rise up into the air, and hopefully the man behind the camera was covering his mouth.

While we're not saying acetone is deadly or dangerous, it's certainly interesting to watch how powerful it is. We honestly had no idea!

Sharing this video is simply to show just how powerful the daily objects in our homes are, and how we should be extra careful about where we store powerful man-made chemicals like this. Especially when pets or children are around, it's always better to be safe than sorry.
