Everyone knows that using a helmet is important when riding around on a bike, roller skates, or a skateboard. You never know what can happen, and protecting your head is of utmost importance.
Mom Jena Antonchuk wants to relay this message after her son, Alex Wigg, was unexpectedly struck by a car while riding his bike on his way to school.
Every time he climbs onto his bike, she forces him to wear his helmet, but she never anticipated that one day he would actually get hurt.
The accident caused a fracture in his skull and swelling to his brain, though he was wearing a helmet.
But the mom knows that he could have been even more gravely injured or killed if he hadn't been wearing it.
Alex is recovering now, and it seems like he will have no lasting damage from the accident, but Jena emphasizes that using a helmet can mean the difference between life and death. She knows that many kids don't use them because they don't "look cool," and that some parents may not enforce this rule. She's using her son's story as a warning to those parents and hopes that what happened to her son won't happen to anyone else.
Please SHARE if you will always make you children and grandchildren wear a helmet to potentially save their lives in the case of an accident!
